Chef Michael’s culinary journey began at 17 in a family-run Kampala restaurant, where a simple curiosity grew into a lifelong passion. He refined his craft through formal training—earning a Diplinary in Culinary Arts in Nairobi and advancing his skills in France—before returning to Uganda with a mission to teach.
With over 12 years of industry experience, he has since dedicated himself to mentoring the next generation of chefs. After opening Seasons Bistro, he founded Dash Culinary School, where he now focuses fully on hands-on instruction, discipline, and creative growth. Chef Michael believes in learning by doing, and takes pride in watching his students gain not just skills, but confidence and a true love for the culinary arts.
“Good cooking is learned by doing. Great cooking is learned by understanding—and sharing.”
— Chef Michael Ssekimpi
