Chef Michael Ssekimpi’s culinary journey began at the age of 17 in a family-run restaurant along Kimathi Avenue in Kampala. It was there, that he discovered a keen interest and passion for cooking. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a calling.
Determined to turn his passion into a profession, he pursued a Diploma in Culinary Arts at Boma College in Nairobi, where he refined his technical skills and professional discipline. Driven by a desire to broaden his culinary perspective, he later advanced his training in France, gaining exposure to a wider range of international cuisines and classical techniques.
When he returned to Africa, he dedicated himself not only to cooking but also to mentorship and instruction. He served as an instructor in several reputable culinary schools across Uganda and Kenya, shaping young talent and building a reputation as a patient, skilled, and inspiring trainer.
His entrepreneurial journey led him to open Seasons Bistro, located along Kisaasi–Kyanja Road, where he brought his culinary vision to life. Shortly after, he established Dash Culinary School. While the restaurant continues to operate, the school became his true calling. Teaching allowed him to experience the direct appreciation of his work through the growth, confidence, and success of his students.
With over 12 years of experience in the culinary industry, he is deeply passionate about sharing knowledge, nurturing talent, and positively impacting aspiring chefs. At Dash Culinary School, he leads with hands-on instruction, discipline, and creativity, making sure every student gains practical skills, confidence, and a genuine love for the craft.
